First Date

This pic was taken a couple of weeks ago of me and my oldest daughter Ashtyn Grace(2.5). We were going out on our first date together. This is a regular practice that I want to continue with my girls until they are married. I feel it is important for me as their Father to make sure they know how a man is supposed to treat them and that their Daddy wants to be a part of their life in every way.

The world throws so much at our children these days and I especially believe it is more so directed to girls. How many TV commercials and magazine covers do you see that exploit women and give a very false view of how a woman is supposed to look and act. This is not the image that I want my daughters to try and live up to. I want them to know that they are beautiful because God created them in His image. That is why we are careful with what our girls watch on television (yes, even cartoons can communicate these negative aspects) and what clothes we buy for them (teaching them modesty starts early). These are things that I think should be instilled in the minds and hearts of every child, girls and boys.

Finally, Fathers with daughters make sure you communicate to your daughter(s) how much you love them and how beautiful they are to you. My daughters are both very young yet I know they understand it when their Daddy spends time with them, kisses them, hugs them, talks to them, prays with them, encourages them, tells them they are beautiful, helps them, and disciplines them. I think you get my point. If we do not do these things some other man will be more than happy to do it for us. SDG
